No Intimacy in my marriage life
I am beyond stressed and have had to pretend to make peace with this matter for my mental health. My husband (M32, married for four and a half years) has no interest in sex, intimacy, or affection, which I find bizarre. We were in a long-distance relationship before marriage—I'm from England, and he is Indian. Our sex life was present but not flourishing before marriage, but over time, it became nonexistent.
This has severely affected my confidence, self-esteem, and self-worth. I feel degraded constantly begging for intimacy. He claims it could be a medical issue, but in seven months, he hasn't seen a doctor or sought medical advice. Every time I bring it up, he says he's too stressed because of his trading.
He knows this bothers and upsets me, yet he is unconcerned. He expects my behavior to be normal and asks why I'm down, not realizing he's causing it. Without medical confirmation, I can't just let it pass. He used to make petty excuses, and now he claims it's a medical issue without any follow-up.
I've weighed everything—he's not having an affair, and he works from home. When I get frustrated, he makes me feel selfish for not being empathetic to his supposed medical needs. I can't talk to friends about this sensitive topic, and it's been a long-standing issue making me feel insecure and resentful.
What could be the reason? I need to prioritize my mental health. Is this normal in a marriage? What should I do?
