My old school still thinks its graduation time capsule was stolen, but I buried it fifty metres away from the marked spot

When I was seventeen, our graduating class filled a metal capsule with letters, photos, and small objects. I was angry because the committee rejected my contribution as “too stupid,” so I moved the capsule. I didnt take anything. I buried it beside a different oak tree, maybe fifty metres from the painted marker, then kept quiet when teachers discovered an empty hole. Everyone assumed somebody had stolen it. The school even held a second ceremony with replacement items. Fifteen years later, the original capsule is probably still there. I remember the exact tree, and the school recently announced plans to open it next spring. Part of me wants to send an anonymous map. The other part knows that would reveal someone deliberately moved it. I was a petty teenager, but I’m still letting an entire class believe their memories vanished.
