I work less than an hour a week and get paid for 40
I've been in marketing/web tech for many years. My company (about 250 people) was acquired about 8 months ago by a giant indian systems integrator.
Since then, most everyone I know has moved on. My boss, my bosses boss, my coworkers.. I'm 1 of 3 people left in marketing from the old brand. The other 2 people work in field marketing, and have completely drank the kool aid of the new brand and I don't ever talk with them.
It's my job to keep the old website running, they haven't sunsetted it. They have a jr. Marketing person at the new brand who updates blogs/news articles to the old brand.. mostly SEO slop.
During the time we were being acquired, I started my own business and got a few clients that left and started their own thing. I have enough work to keep me happy/busy on that side of things.
I decided it would be dumb to just quit my current job. I stayed, just to see what happened.
Here's the crazy thing, I don't know who I report to. I don't know how to log into the new companies HR systems, and I haven't tried. I just don't care. I have zero meetings on my calendar.. i'm not tied into their systems at all.. Maybe people are emailing me / inviting me to meetings via a different email address at the new company? I have no idea.
Somehow, I'm getting paid my full salary without fail. I do maybe an hours worth of work a week.. Just updating plugins, making sure things look ok.. Other than that, nothing.
I make a decent salary (low 6 figures) and I don't plan on raising any flags.. I'm sure the time will come when they start calling.. But for now, i'm going to sit back and laugh and collect an easy paycheck.. Afterall, this is a 10-20 billion dollar revenue company.. Who cares about little ole me?
