My friend used me as a substitute for her with a sex worker
I want to start by saying I have absolutely nothing bad to say about the sex worker involved. She was lovely, hot, professional, hygienic and very respectful about consent. My issue is entirely with my friend.
I’m 26F and currently in Amsterdam visiting my friend (24F), who’s living in Rotterdam for a bit. Before this trip she had told me she wanted to explore being bi and have more experiences with women, and I’m pretty open/kinky myself, so Amsterdam seemed like a fun place for us to explore.
We went out for drinks and honestly the night had already been irritating me a little. She has a habit of deciding she hates the “vibe” somewhere and then the entire place immediately has to be abandoned. The first bar apparently was too loud/busy despite us sitting on a four-person couch with basically nobody near us. I’m getting tired of constantly trying to anticipate her random preferences, so I finally told her to pick somewhere herself. Once she decided she wanted to leave, she couldn’t even wait for me to finish my pint without repeatedly talking about how much she wanted to go.
Whatever. We leave, walk around the Red Light District, have more drinks, both get kinda turned on, mood improves.
While we’re walking, she ends up talking to a couple. They’re interested in her and start talking getting a sex worker together. My friend seems genuinely into the idea. I asked her MULTIPLE times if she was sure because, to me, it was incredibly obvious this couple wasn’t offering to spend (xxxx€) purely out of the goodness of their hearts so two random women could have a private sexual experience or just watch the couple engage with the prostitute. Rub two brain cells. Obviously they were interested in participating somehow or watching.
My friend kept saying yes.
So I’m thinking: okay, she understands what this is, she’s into it, I’m into trying something new, let’s see where this goes.
Apparently she did NOT understand that. She somehow thought this couple would spend €600 to have us even be in the room and expect basically nothing involving us.
We get there and the sex worker is great. Everything is consensual and safe. There was no intercourse or oral sex involving us; it was mostly toys, and I watched her clean everything and put condoms on the toys.
At first it’s the wife, me and friend sitting on the bed. The wife goes first. Then suddenly my friend starts backing out of everything. And to be VERY clear: **she was absolutely allowed to do that.**
This is not me saying, “You agreed beforehand, so now you have to do sexual things.” Consent can obviously be revoked at any second, for any reason. My problem is what she did AFTER revoking hers. Instead of just saying “I’m done, I’m going to sit this out,” she started repeatedly offering ME up instead.
“It’s her turn.” “Do more with her.” “She’s open.”
She wouldn’t touch me or engage with me herself, but apparently felt perfectly comfortable telling everyone else that I would participate.
At one point the husband asked to watch something involving her, she said no. which, again, completely fine and then redirected everything toward me instead.
So suddenly I felt like a fucking piece of meat she could toss into the middle whenever she didn’t want to do something because I’m “open.”
Being open sexually does not mean my friend gets to offer me up to other people. yes, I ultimately participated willingly. I didn’t have a horrible sexual experience. The sex worker herself made me feel respected and comfortable. But there was absolutely pressure created by the situation, particularly because there was €€€ involved and my friend kept volunteering me as the alternative every time she refused something. I felt like I was suddenly responsible for keeping this whole weird situation going.
Afterward, I tried explaining why that bothered me. Her response: “Consent can be revoked at anytime OP.” “How dare you suggest I should’ve participated “ “ how dare you suggest I should’ve known the situation “ etc etc.
I wasn’t angry because she changed her mind. I was angry because she got herself into a situation she apparently completely misunderstood despite me repeatedly asking whether she was sure, and then when she became uncomfortable, she dealt with it by repeatedly redirecting the sexual attention onto me. She can say, “No, I don’t want to do that.” She does NOT get to add, “But my friend will.”
Those are two completely different things.
And honestly, having her turn this into me supposedly being upset that she wouldn’t participate, like I was trying to pressure her sexually- has made me even angrier because that isn’t remotely what I’m saying. I don’t regret the experience itself. I don’t blame the couple for being interested when that seemed pretty obvious from the beginning, and I definitely don’t blame the sex worker.
I’m pissed that my friend treated my sexual openness like blanket consent that she was entitled to give on my behalf.
I think this friendship is now over after this trip.
