Why do people who use drugs and get sober act like they did something amazing?

My daughter's mom was on meth for 10 years. I fucken hate that bitch. She ruined our lives. We had to tolerate her stupid hallucinations at 2:00am, her crazy behavior, and everything that comes with meth usage. She fucked up the lives of her parents, siblings, daughter, me, and everyone around her, and now that she's been sober and off drugs she wants to be treated like she achieved something great. What about us? What about the lives she ruined? When do we get to say, we're ok? People who use drugs and get sober should have to work their asses off and pay the therapy bills of all those people they traumatized. Getting sober from drugs is not an accomplishment. Fuck no it's not. I hate it when people feel special because they got sober while their families are ruined forever.
