I have been feeding my pretentious sister-in-law store-bought frozen pies for three years and letting her rave about my "craft"

My sister-in-law is the kind of person who makes food her entire personality. Every family dinner, she spends twenty minutes lecturing everyone at the table about seed oils, processed sugars, and how she can instantly detect the difference between store-bought dough and genuine artisanal baking from scratch. She has made fun of my cooking more times than I can count. three years ago, I was completely swamped with work before hosting our annual family holiday dinner. I was too exhausted to bake, so I bought two six-dollar frozen berry pies from the grocery store freezer aisle. I baked them in my own ceramic pie dishes, lightly dusted the crust with powdered sugar, and pinched the edges with a fork so they looked uneven and rustic. When dessert was served, she took one bite, closed her eyes, and announced to the entire family that you could TASTE the fifteen hours of dedication in the handmade butter pastry. She literally posted a photo of her slice on Instagram with a caption about supporting traditional home bakers. Since that night, I have never baked a single dessert from scratch for family gatherings. I buy the exact same frozen box every holiday, transfer it to my ceramic pans, and throw a little loose flour on my apron before walking out of the kitchen. She still gives speeches at the table about my secret recipe. You should of heard her ask me last Christmas if she could buy some of my homemade starter. I feel slightly guilty, but watching her praise factory pastry is the highlight of my year.
