I had to put down one of my wife's horses in an accident the other day and now she will not speak to me

marked this NSFW as a disclaimer but I'm going to do my best to keep the morbid details as limited as possible. This week, we stayed at her family's property with all of the crazy weather in our region. They raise horses and import many of them from Sweden. After all of the snow and ice hit, all of the horses came in but there was an older one named Shaman, who was one of "her" horses she learned to ride on as a kid who was in his mid 20s she was very close to. She kind of played it off, since he was notorious for being a little sassy and would come back to the stables on his own time, but my FIL was clearly concerned and I grew up next to a cattle farm and I kinda know what happens in those situations. When he didn't come back the next morning, we went out to search and we were gonna go out and play in the snow anyways. When we went out, I brought a my personal "equipment" that utilizes .5.5.6 NAT0 materials in the chance it was what would be considered an emergency euthanasia situation. Unfortunately, it was. I'll save the morbid details here, but it looked like he got spooked by something, ran through fencing, and fell down to a 15 foot embarkment next to a creek. It was BAD bad. And Shaman was in full instinctual fight or flight mode in a spot that was really hard to reach with all of the ice and stuff. My wife was completely inconsolably crying and screaming so I called her dad and told him we found Shaman and he basically said "I can call the vet and they can be out there in three to four hours, or I can go ahead and call the warden/sheriff to let him know and get a Bobcat out there". And I knew what that that response meant. So, I did what I had to do. I wish nobody ever had to do something like that, but it was genuinely the most humane thing I could do in that situation. To avoid the details, I hit the spot I needed to on the first try, and did an additional three just to make sure it was humane and he didn't suffer even for a second. But, my wife will absolutely not talk to me right now.She was so angry at me because I didn't let her hug him and say goodbye. I know she knows that was not physically possible in the situation and I know she's just coping with tragedy, but I'm currently sitting in her family's basement sleeping on the couch and she hasn't left her bedroom at her parents in a day and a half and I just want to be there for her. I feel so bad, and it kinda messes with me in the head having to do that. I get it, but there was no other choice.
