I am not proud to be an American anymore

I’m not. I used to be, but ever since the 2024 election, I’m not proud to be an American. Just the fact that they constantly bend the knee to the blue and white star. The fact that Trump is the representative of my country makes me no longer proud to represent this place. It’s difficult because it is where I was born, and you feel a certain level of loyalty to where you come from, but it is embarrassing the image the rest of the world has towards us. Living in the same country as this many asshats is also embarrassing. It feels like we’re the western Russia. I can somewhat remove myself from it though because I’m not white and I’m a person of color. When people learn that they don’t lump me into the radical conservative crap as much, it would probably be worse if I were a white person. To be honest, I sometimes used to assume all white people liked Trump, so I’m no better. I guess it’s just a lazy habit that is easy to fall into. But yeah, I hope my country gets better one day, but I’m not “proud” of it.
