I lied about my own race/ethnicity for years until I started believing it myself
I'm adopted. Really wasn't sure what race I was but I knew it was white mixed with something else. Most people assumed I was half Asian so I just rolled with it. Anytime someone would ask my race I would just say half white half Asian and was pretty sure I got it right. Then when people started asking what kind of Asian I was I started looking at my facial features and started asking people to guess. Top guess was Japanese so I guess I'm Japanese. I started telling people this in elementary school and by the time I was in highschool I almost forgot I really didn't know and it was all an assumption. Anyways I meet my bio mom at 16 and find out that my father wasn't Asian, he was native American 💀 bruh.
