I've been secretly throwing away my boyfriend's "collections" for months and now I can't stop

I've been living with my boyfriend for two years and he is basically a magpie. He keeps everything. Old charging cables for phones he doesn't own anymore. Expired coupons for a pizza place that closed during the pandemic. Those little plastic clips that hold bread bags. He calls it "being prepared" but it's just a sea of garbage. the house was starting to look like a storage unit and it was making my skin crawl. Every time I brought it up he would say he might "need it one day" for a project he never actually starts. So I started a system. Every Tuesday, I take one thing from the junk drawer and throw it in the bin outside. Just one. its been six months and I've probably cleared out three full boxes worth of literal trash. the problem is he hasn't noticed. Or rather, he thinks he's just "losing" things because he's disorganized. I should of just been honest but I'm just LITERALLY addicted to the feeling of a clean shelf. Last week he spent twenty minutes looking for a specific rusted screwdriver that I threw out in June. I just sat on the couch and watched him look for it. I even helped him "search" the garage for it even though I knew it was in a landfill miles away. I feel like a terrible person but the house is finally breathing again. I can't stop now. I've already targeted his "backup" collection of empty egg cartons. Am I a monster or just someone trying to survive? Why is this even a thing?
