I let my cyberbullies believe that I actually killed myself, and I will never tell them the truth.
In 2021 and 2022, when I was 17-18 years old, I spent a lot of time in a specific Discord server. Looking back, the environment was incredibly toxic. A group of users in that server targeted me and cyberbullied me relentlessly. It got to a point where my mental health was completely shattered. One day, I just couldn't take it anymore. In a moment of sheer desperation and distress, I messaged another user in the server and told them that I was going to end my life. Right after sending that message, I logged out of my account. I didn't delete the account. I just abandoned it entirely and completely cut ties with everyone remotely related to that server. Somewhere down the line, after time had passed and I was in a better place, I decided to create a brand new Discord account. Out of curiosity, I used the new account to rejoin that old server just to see what had happened. Turned out chuckles the people who had bullied me actually believed that I was dead. Looking through the chat history and the way they spoke about me, it was obvious that they felt immense guilt for how they treated me and how things supposedly ended. They genuinely think their actions drove someone to suicide. I watched them mourn and deal with that guilt, but I never said a word. I didn't reveal myself, and I never did anything to let them know that I am actually still alive.
